Mayor Robert Garcia
c/o Office of The Mayor
City of Long Beach
333 West Ocean Blvd, 14th
Floor
Long Beach, CA 90802
Dear Mayor Garcia,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor,
Michigan with a strong interest in learning history with public policy. In these subjects, I like to learn the need
to advance on Civil Rights to help protect people who are different from being
discriminated, protect the environment from pollution, find ways to improve
public safety, and many others. Mayor Garcia, the main reason I’m writing you a
letter is because I find your work as 28th Mayor of Long Beach,
California to be very inspiring to me, share with you how you motivate me to work hard on my
disability, and to wish you a Happy Birthday for December 2nd.
In 2014, I was amazed on how you made
history by becoming the first openly gay person and become the first Latino to become Mayor of
Long Beach, California. In your current
role ad 28th Mayor of Long Beach, California, I am very proud on how
you are a strong supporter of protecting women, minorities, people with
disabilities, and people with different sexual orientation from being
discriminated in education and public places. Also on Civil Rights, I like on
how you support funding women including minorities businesses to help them
compete in the economy, advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, support
LQBT rights, work with minorities communities to find ways to reduce racial
profiling, and expand laws to help combat against people who commit
hate-crime. Funding special education to
help students with disabilities get the educational resources they need to help
them learn, expanding on after school programs to help youth get help on their
assignments from tutors, working with public schools to combat against bullying
by expand on educational awareness with counseling to make education a safe
environment from people to learn, and investing funds in arts including
educational technology to make education diverse are great ways to make
education reform stronger. On the environment, I like on how you support
funding renewable energy projects to help reduce addiction to oil with gas
including pollution, working with different industries or companies to find
ways to create clean energy jobs to make the environment a better place along
with a clean economy, providing funds to help clean up parks including water
resources including beaches to make them safe for people to use. You approach to
improve the economy like expand on job-training programs to help train youth
including workers to develop job skills to help them be prepared for the
workforce, work with technology companies to work on hiring women including
minorities to work in tech jobs, and encourage businesses with industries to use
energy-efficient products to reduce high energy cost is common sense. Another
thing that I like about your work as Mayor of Long Beach, California is how you
are very committed to improve public safety by working to fix infrastructure
like highways or filling potholes to make them safe for people to drive, hiring
police officers to help patrol the streets, pushing for treatment programs to
help drug addicts get the care they need,
and implementing community services to help rehabilitate non-violent
offender including juveniles, providing educational awareness about reducing
gun violence.
Mayor Garcia, I have Autism with a
learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble
comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to
communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong
supporter of Civil Rights and be an advocate for people with disabilities’
rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. In Also your role as current Mayor motivates
me to continue my interest in learning history with public policy. My future
goal is to someday work in public policy to help shape up common sense ideas. My letter is a gift to you for inspiring me
and to wish you a Happy Birthday for December 2nd. My birthday is
also in December month that is December 3rd.
I strongly believe that you make a
great difference in your current role as Mayor. I’m very proud on how you made
history by making a great achievement to become the first openly gay and fist
Latino to become Mayor. Also I like on
how you work hard to make Civil Rights stronger, protect the environment,
improve the community, and many others.
