Dear Ms.
Dicamillo,
My name is Matt
Winick and I like to read some literature.
The main reason I like to read some literature is to learn about the
character’s information including how they play a role and find symbolism in
it. The symbolism in books that I like to look for is friendships, when society
is filled with oppression that there can be people who can make a difference,
how having too much power or greed can cause corruption, and many others. Ms. Dicamillo, the main reason I’m writing
you a letter is to explain how I enjoyed reading your book Because of
Winn-Dixie.
When I was young
I use to read with my mom Because of Winn-Dixie. Also I used the audiobook
version to help me comprehend on the story. In the book I really enjoyed the
plot about a girl named Opal who moves with her father to a small town in
Florida where she goes about adjust to meet new people and learn about
life. In the book I really like on how
it covered some basic symbolisms like about the need for friendships, resolve
conflicts between people, and that when life is sad or when a person faces
tradegy that there can be some parts of life that are worth it. Ms. Dicamillo, I have autism with a learning
disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble
comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to
communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a
disability is when people push me away from social groups, get judgmental about
me with disability, struggle to find people or friends who like me, and many
others. You and the book Because of
Winn- Dixie really inspire me to work hard on my disability and learn the
importance of friendships.
I strongly
believe that you did an excellent job writing Because of Winn-Dixie. Also the
book was fun to read and did have really great symbolisms about life with
friendships. You along with the book really made a great impact on me to
continue to be inspired to work hard on my disability and learn the need for
friendships. I was wondering if you
could please share some advice about working hard on friendships when there are
struggles or when you are different from other people, and take the time to answer
some of my questions. Here is a picture
of me as a gift to you and $5 for you to use to donate to improve
literature. Thanks for taking the time
to read my letter, writing Because of Winn-Dixie, and inspiring me. I wish you well for the future and to
continue to make literature have good symbolism.
Sincerely,
Matt Winick
