Dear
Mr. Rylance,
My
name is Matt Winick and I’m a fan of your acting. My favorite tv miniseries
that you played in was Wolf Hall. Wolf Hall was an interesting historical mini
series because I enjoyed learning about how Thomas Cronwell’s role in helping
Henry VIII with getting marriage to Anne Boleyn in order to produce a male heir
for the throne and how Thomas Cronwell had a lot of power. In Wolf Hall, I liked learning about some of
the history of Henry VIII and his ruling as King of England. On of my favorite movies that you played in
was The BFG. The BFG was a great movie because I enjoyed the plot about Sophie,
an orphan girl who meets giant named BFG due to being Big Friendly Giant where
they develop a friendships and team up to stop the man eating giants. Mr. Rylance, I thought you did a great job
portraying the BFG because I liked on how you made the BFG have great traits
like being kind to humans when they have prejudice against him due to other
giants being cruel, developing a friendship with Sophie, and have a sense of
humor. In The BFG I really liked seeing
how Sophie and the BFG interact with each other and learning about each other.
Besides
your acting career, I truly appreciate on how you are an activist on addressing
the need for human rights including people with disabilities’ rights,
advocating for the need to protect the environment while reduce climate change,
and support the need for diversity in the arts including entertainment. Mr.
Rylance, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard
for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance
subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.
Another thing that I struggle with a disability is I struggle with friendships
due to peers teasing me about being different and some people use prejudice
against me due to having a disability. Your advocacy for human rights including
people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my
disability. The BFG had great symbolism like the need for
friendships when coming from different background and the need to not have
prejudice due to a person who is different.
Your role as The BFG in the movie and the symbolism also helps teaches
me about the importance of friendships and how prejudice against a person who is
different or how they look instead of their actions is not good. Also your acting in some historical
mini-series and your activism gives me motivation to continue to learn history.
I
strongly believe that you do such an excellent job acting in historical
mini-series and in movies. You do such an excellent job making your characters
have different unique traits. I really thought that you really did an excellent
job making The BFG a great movie. Here
is a picture of me as a gift to you for inspiring me and $5 to use to help your
activism. You have inspired me to work
hard on my disability and to continue to learn different subjects especially
history. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, doing an excellent job
acting along with your activism, and inspiring me. I wish you well for the
future in acting and on your Broadway show.
Sincerely,
Matt
Winick
