State Representative Donna Lasinski
c/o Capitol Building
P.O. Box 30014
Lansing, MI 48909-7514
Dear State Representative Lasinski,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor,
Michigan with a strong interest in learning history, social justice, and public
policy. In these subjects, I like to
learn the need for Civil Rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination,
protect the environment from pollution, and many others. State Representative
Lasinski, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find
your work as Michigan State Representative from 52nd District be
very inspiring to me and how I enjoyed your speech at the Women’s March 2017 in
Ann Arbor, Michigan.
In your current role as Michigan State
Representative from 52nd District, I really appreciate on how you
are a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with
disabilities’ rights, supporting the need for equal pay for women to help
protect them from being discriminated in pay, and expressing the need to expand
laws to combat against hate-crime to help protect minorities including people
who are different. On the environment, I like on how you are a
strong supporter of funding renewable energy projects to help reduce addiction
to oil with gas, support the need for an investigation in the Flint water
crisis to help people who live in Michigan including in Flint get help from
toxic water, and express support to funds help protect parks, water resources,
and public lands from being polluted. Your approach on the economy like advocating
for the need to raise the minimum wage to help minimum wage workers afford to
live and supporting the need to expand job-training programs to help train
youth including workers to develop work skills to help prepare for the
workforce is common sense. Another thing that I like about your work in the
Michigan state legislature is how you are a strong supporter of women’s right
to have healthcare, advocate for the Health Care Bill of Rights to help people
with pre-existing conditions or people who can’t afford health insurance get
the medical care they need, and support
funs to help special education and different resources to help people with
disabilities get the help they need with accommodations.
State Representative Lasinski, I have
autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I
have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle
to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your continuous strong support for
Civil Rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to
work hard on my disability. In January 2017, I went to the Women’s March
in Ann Arbor Rally and I listened to your speech. In your speech you did an
excellent job speaking about being a first woman in your family to get an
education, expressing the need to help protect women’ rights from being taken
away, supporting the idea of equal pay for women, and many others. Also
your role as Michigan State Representative gives me motivation to continue to
learn history and social justice. My
future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to
make Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment
from pollution, and many others.
I strongly believe that you are making
a great difference in the Michigan state legislature. I’m very proud on how you
are a continuous supporter of Civil Rights, protect the environment, advocate
for women’s rights, and improve social justice. You really did a great job
speaking at the Women’s March in Ann Arbor.
You really inspire me to work hard on my disability, listen to your
speech, and to continue to learn history with social justice. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter,
working hard to support with advocate for common sense ideas when the political
environment is difficult, and inspiring me. I hope that you can continue to advocate for
common sense ideas and give more speeches in Ann Arbor, MI to help inspire many
people like me.
Sincerely,
Matt Winick
