Attorney General Maura Healey
c/o Office of Massachusetts Attorney
General
1 Ashburton Place
Boston, MA 02108-1698
Dear Attorney General Healey,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor,
Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history and social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need
for Civil Rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, have criminal justice
reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime, and many others.
Attorney General Healey, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain
how I find your work as 59th Attorney General of Massachusetts to be
very inspiring to me.
In January 2015, I was amazed on how
you made history by becoming the first openly gay to become Attorney General of
Massachusetts. In your current role as Attorney General of Massachusetts, I
truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of Civil Rights by
advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, prosecuting people who commit
hate-crime to help protect minorities including people who are different, and
investigating public places that practice different forms of discrimination or
violate Civil Rights legislation. Supporting
drug treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce
drug abuse, expressing the need for funds to improve DNA testing including
forensic science to help reduce sending an innocent person to jail while help
solve cases or evidence efficiently is common sense for criminal justice
reform. On victims’ rights, I liked on how you work
with law enforcement along with the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney
General to expand resources to help victims of crime or victims of domestic
violence to help on dealing with their trauma and implement more child services
to help assist children who are abused or are neglected find foster homes or
families to help them. Another thing that I like abut your work as
Attorney General of Massachusetts is how you sent after public officials that
are corrupt or accepted illegal bribes to help reduce corruption, prosecuted
companies or industries that illegally polluted the environment or violated
environmental protection laws to help improve public health while reduce
pollution, strongly support for the need
for immigration reform to help protect immigrants dreamers, and refugees form
being oppressed. and strongly advocate for women’s rights to help protect them
from being discriminated.
Attorney General Healey, I have autism
with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have
trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I
struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of
Civil Rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to
work hard on my disability. Also your role as Attorney General of Massachusetts
gives me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these
areas to help emphasize the need for Civil Rights to be stronger to reduce
discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, have criminal justice
reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime, and many others.
I strongly believe that you are making
a great difference in your current role. I’m very proud on how you are working
hard to support Civil Rights, push for criminal justice reform, and many
others. You have inspired me to continue
to work hard on my disability and to be motivated to continue to learn history
including social justice. Thanks for
taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and
inspiring me. I wish you the best to continue to make a great difference for
society.
Sincerely,
Matt Winick
