Dear Mayor Henry,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor,
Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social
justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for Civil Rights to be
stronger to reduce discrimination,
protect the environment from pollution, improve social justice to make
communities safer, and many others. Mayor Henry, the main reason I’m writing
you a letter is to explain how I find your work as 35th Mayor of
Fort Wayne, Indiana to be very inspiring to me.
In your current role as Mayor of Fort
Wayne, Indiana I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of Civil
Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds for
women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy,
working with city council to expand laws to combat against hate-crime to help
protect minorities including people who are different, and expressing the need
for equal pay for women to help protect them from being discriminated based on
gender. On the economy, I liked on how
you supported to expand on job training programs to help train youth including
workers develop work skills, provide tax credits to local including small
businesses to help hire people to work for them, and strongly advocate for the
need to increase the minimum wage to help minimum wage workers afford to
live. Supporting funds for renewable
energy resources to help reduce addiction to oil with gas, pushing funds to
help clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use,
and improving trash with recycling services to help reduce littering is common
sense to protect the environment. I like
your approach on improving education by support funds to improve special
education to help students with disabilities get the educational resources they
need to learn, push for more after school programs to provide students with
help on their assignments from tutors,
and increase literacy programs to help students who struggle with
literacy problems to improve on comprehension. Another thing that I like about your work as
Mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana is how you team up with historical preservation
organizations to find ways to push for funds to help restore with preserve
historical sites, museums, and attractions to improve tourism while make
learning history a better tool, advocate for ethics reform like ban gifts to
city government employees along with city council members form lobbyist to
reduce corruption, support more training services to help train law enforcement
officers including emergency responders be prepared to handle different
situations, and expand more 311 call centers to help residents get help on
different city services. Also I like on
how support the need for the criminal justice system to reduce racial profiling
to help protect minorities including immigrants from being oppressed, implement
community policing to help law enforcement and the community improve their
relations, and advocate for the need for immigration reform to help protect
immigrants including refugees from being oppressed.
Mayor Henry, I have autism with a
learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble
comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to
communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong
supporter of Civil Rights including people with disabilities’ rights really
inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also your role as Mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana
gives me motivation to continue to learn history and social justice. My future
goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to make Civil
Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from
pollution, and many others.
I strongly believe that you are making
a great difference in your current role. I’m very proud on how you are working
hard to support Civil Rights, push for restoration for historical sites
including attractions, protect the
environment, and many others. You have inspired me to work hard on my
disability and to continue to learn history including social justice. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter,
working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. I wish you the best
