City of Chattanooga
101 E. 11th Street
Chattanooga, TN 37402
Dear Mayor Berke,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor,
Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social
justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need to make Civil Rights
stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and
many others. Mayor Berke, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to
explain how I find your work as 65th Mayor of Chattanooga, Tennessee
to be very inspiring to me.
In your current role as 65th
Mayor of Chattanooga, Tennessee, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong
supporter of Civil Rights by advocating
for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds for women including
minorities businesses to help the compete in the economy, and working with city
council to expand laws to combat against hate-crime to help protect minorities
including people who are different. On the economy, I liked on how you expand
job-training programs to help train youth including workers to develop job
skills to help prepare for the economy,
provide tax credits to small businesses along with local businesses to
help hire people to work for them, and
implement The Workforce Development Working Group to bring employers, training
providers, workforce funders together to find ways improve the workforce along
with improve working conditions. Supporting renewable energy resources to help
reduce addiction to oil with gas, encouraging businesses including industries
to use energy-efficient products to help reduce high energy costs, and
providing funds to help clean parks including water resources to make them safe
for people to use is common sense to protect the environment. On
education, I like on how you worked to increase funds to help improve special
education in order to assist people with disabilities get accommodations they
need to learn, create Netbridge to help provide public schools with high speed
internet to assist students with learning, and expand on after school programs
to provide youth with help on their assignments from tutors. Another thing that I like about
your work as Mayor of Chattanooga, Tennessee, I like on how you provide funds
to help restore historical sites including attractions to improve tourism while
make learning a better place, push for community policing to help improve
relations between citizens and law enforcement, work on a goal to reduce the
homeless rate by providing more shelters or assistance to help people who are
homeless get care they need.
Mayor Berke, I have autism with a
learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble
comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to
communicate my thoughts, and get teased.
Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights including
people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my
disability. On the New Deal website
about different public officials who are progressive where they share ideas on
how to improve society, I enjoy learning about your work on pushing to improve
society by increase transparency to help citizens understand how government
works, the need for education reform, and many others. Also your current role
as 65th Mayor of Chattanooga, Tennessee helps motivate me to
continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas
to help emphasize the need to make Civil Rights stronger to reduce
discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others. My
letter is a gift to you for inspiring me and to wish you a Happy Birthday for
March 31st.
I strongly believe that you are making
a great difference for society. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to
support Civil Rights, push for environmental protection, and many others. I enjoyed learning about your ideas to improve
society on The New Deal website. You
have inspired me to work hard on my disability, continue to learn history
including social justice, and be interested in learning about your work. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter,
