Mayor Alex Morse
c/o Office of the Mayor
City Hall
536 Dwight Street
Holyoke, MA 01040
Dear
Mayor Morse,
My
name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in
learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn
the need to make Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the
environment from pollution, and many others.
Mayor Morse, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how
I find your work as 44th Mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts to be very
inspiring to me.
In
your current role as 44th Mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts, I truly
appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for
people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds for women including
minorities businesses to help compete in the economy, and working with city
council to expand laws to combat against hate-crime to help protect minorities
including people who are different. On
the economy, I liked on how you expanded job-training programs to help train
youth including workers to develop work-skills to help prepare for the workforce,
create SPARK Program to help give people tools along with an education to help
them start their own businesses, and
support increasing the minimum wage to help minimum wage workers afford to
live. Funding renewable energy resources
to help reduce addiction to oil with gas, encouraging businesses including
industries to use energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost
while reduce pollution, and working with
city council members to expand funds to help improve city services to help
clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use is
common sense to protect the environment.
On education, I like on how you support funds to improve special
education to help students with disabilities get accommodations they need to
learn, implement literacy programs to help youth including people to improve on
comprehension, and push for after school programs to provide youth with help on
their assignments. Another thing that I
like about your work as Mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts is how you push for
funds to help restore or preserve historical sites including attractions to
help make learning a better place while improve tourism, push for community
policing to have law enforcement officers engage with the community to reduce
tensions between them, and advocate for immigration reform to help protect
immigrants including refugees from being oppressed.
Mayor
Morse, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard
for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance
subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of
civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to
work hard on my disability. Your
current role as Mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts gives me motivation to continue
to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to work in these
areas to help emphasize the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce
discrimination, protect the environment form pollution, and many others. Recently, I heard that you were planning on
running for Congress and it helped me get interested in learning about your
work as Mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts and some of your ideas to improve
social justice.
I
strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society. I’m very
proud on how you are working hard to support civil rights, push for social
justice, protect the environment, and many others. You have inspire me to work
hard on my disability and learn more about your work. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter,
working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. I wish you the best to continue to advocate
for common sense ideas and to do well on your congressional race.
Sincerely,
Matt
Winick
