State Attorney Andrew H. Warren
c/o Office of the State Attorney 13th Judicial Circuit
419 N. Pierce Street
Tampa, Florida 33602
Dear
State Attorney Warren,
My
name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in
learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need to
make Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment
from pollution, have criminal justice reform to help protect people’s rights
while reduce crime, and many others.
State Attorney Warren, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to
explain how I find your work as current State Attorney for the 13th
Judicial Circuit of Florida to be very inspiring to me.
In
your current role as State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit of
Florida, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of Civil Rights
by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, prosecuting people who
commit hate-crime to help protect minorities including people who are
different, and investigating public places that practice different forms of
discrimination or violate civil rights legislation. Supporting drug treatment programs to help
drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse, working with law
enforcement to expand resources to help victims of crime or victims of domestic
violence get help on dealing with their trauma, and expressing the need for
funds to improve DNA testing including forensic science to help solve evidence
or cases efficiently while reduce sending an innocent person to jail is common
sense for criminal justice reform. Also on criminal justice reform, I liked on how you implemented Conviction
Review Unit to investigate innocent people who had been sent to prison, advocated for community policing to help law
enforcement engage with the community to improve relations, and supported community service for
non-violent offenders or no violent juveniles get rehabilitation to reduce
re-offending. Another thing that I like about your work as
State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit of Florida is how you
prosecuted after public officials who are corrupt or accepted illegal bribes,
went after industries that illegally polluted the environment or violated
environmental protection laws, and take away weapons from people who have a
domestic violence record. Supporting
educational awareness programs to help educate youth including people about the
need to reduce bullying, gun violence, sexual assault, and drug abuse are great
ways to help educate people.
State
Attorney Warren, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability
is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different
advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get
teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including
people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my
disability. Also I have visited Tampa
Florida many times where I got to see Yorba City where I learned about the
Cuban culture, walk around the Tampa Riverwalk to understand some history of
Tampa, and many others. Your role as current State Attorney for the
13th Judicial Circuit of Florida gives me some motivation to
continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these
areas to help emphasize the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce
discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, have criminal justice
reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime and many others.
I
strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society. I’m very
proud on how you are working hard to support civil rights, protect the
environment, push for criminal justice reform, and many others. You have inspired me to work hard on my disability,
continue to enjoy visiting Tampa, and be motivated to continue to learn history
including social justice. Thanks for
taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make an impact on society,
and inspiring me. I wish you the best to continue to make a great difference.
Sincerely,
Matt
Winick
