Dear Mr. Shackelford,

My name is Matt Winick and I’m a fan of your acting.  My favorite tv show that I liked was Knots Landing. Knots Landing was a great soap opera tv show about Gary Ewing and his wife Valene Ewing moving to Los Angeles, California in a neighborhood where they make friends along with deal with different issues.  Mr. Shackelford, I thought you did an excellent job portraying as Gary Ewing because I liked on how you made him have different unique traits like working hard to overcome his challenges on being recovered from being an alcoholic,  willing to work hard on improving his friendships along with relationship with his wife Valene Ewing when they both face obstacles, and many others.  Also another thing that I liked about Knots Landing was how Gary Ewing and Valene Ewing would care about their daughter Lucy when she has hard times.  In the episodes of Knots Landing from Season 1 through 14 I liked on how Gary Ewing and his wife Valene would help other neighbors or friends when they had difficulties.  Knots Landing has some great messages like the importance of friendships when there are struggles.

Besides your acting career, I like on how you are an activist on supporting civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes to reduce discrimination. Mr. Shackelford, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when I have trouble with friendships due to losing friends when they get judgmental about me being different or when the peers of them bully me. Your advocacy for civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Your character Gary Ewing in Knots Landing, you and Ms. Joan Van Ark team up on the Ewings, and the Knots Landing tv show helps give me some motivation to try to work hard when I face obstacles, understand how friendships works, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are a very talented actor. You really did an excellent job making Gary Ewing have different unique traits. You and Ms. Joan Van Ark really made a great team in Knots Landing.  You have inspire me to work hard on my disability, have some motivation to continue to work hard when I face challenges, try to understand how friendships works, and many others. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, doing an excellent job acting, and inspiring me. I wish you the best to continue to  make a great difference.
