Dear Honorable Malloy,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have  a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others.  Honorable Malloy, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work when you served as 88^th Governor of Connecticut to be very inspiring to me.

In January 2011, I was amazed on how you made history on becoming the first person with a learning disability to become 88^th Governor of Connecticut.  When you served as 88^th Governor of Connecticut from 2011-2019, I truly appreciated on how you were a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help compete in the economy, and working with both political parties in the Connecticut state legislatures to expand laws to combat against hate-crimes to help protect minorities including people. To improve the economy, I like on how you expanded on job training programs to help train youth including workers to develop work-skills to help prepare for the economy. On bipartisanship, I liked on how you worked with Democrats and Republicans in the state legislature to pass reasonable gun control legislation like universal background checks to reduce a person with a criminal background from buying a weapon, limit magazines, make a registry of the most dangerous weapon offenders to help people become more aware including law enforcement about their criminal background, and create an assault weapon ban to reduce very dangerous weapons from falling to the wrong hands.  Also I like on how you expanded funds to help the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting get treatment or help on dealing with their trauma.  Funding renewable energy resources to help reduce addiction to oil with gas, encouraging businesses including industries to use energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost while reduce pollution, and pushing for more funds to help clean parks including water resources from being polluted are great ways to protect the environment.  On education, I like on how you support expanding on funds to improve special education to help students with disabilities get accommodations they need to learn, pushing for after school programs to provide youth with help on their assignments from tutors, implementing literacy programs to help youth including adults to gain or develop reading skills to improve on comprehensions.  I like your approach o improving voter’s rights like implement early voting to help people vote early for elections when they can’t make it to vote on election day, expand on absentee ballot to give accommodations to people along with people with disabilities be able to vote when they don’t have access to a polling location, and implement online voter registration to reduce long lines at Secretary of state.. On criminal justice reform I like on how you had the courage to repeal the state death penalty to reduce sending innocent people to death row for a crime that they didn’t commit,  push for drug treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse, and work with law enforcement including the state attorney general to expand resources to help victims of crime or victims of domestic violence get help on dealing with their trauma,  and expressing the need for more funds for DNA testing including forensic science to help solve cases efficiently while reduce sending an innocent person to jail.  Another thing that I like about your work as Governor of Connecticut was how you support funds to help repair along with restore historical sites including attractions to improve learning while make tourism stronger and supporting immigration reform to help protect immigrants including refugees from oppressive countries.

                  Honorable Malloy, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also your story about working hard on your learning disability with dyslexia helps m have some motivation to work hard on my disability.  Also your role as 88^th Governor of Connecticut helps give me some inspiration to continue to learn history including social justice.  My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others.

                  I strongly believe that you have made a great difference in public service.  I’m very proud on how you worked hard to support civil rights, protect the environment, and push for common sense ideas. Also I like on how you worked hard on your disability to make an impact on society. You have inspire me to work hard on my disability, learn about your work, and continue to learn history including social justice. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. I wish you the best to continue to make a great impact on society.
