Dear
Ms. Lucy Liu,
My name is Matt Winick, an Asian American and I
am a fan of your acting in different movies including my favorite T.V. show Elementary. My favorite movies that you played in are Shanghai Noon, Charlie’s Angels, Chicago, Lucky
Number Slevin, Code Name: The Cleaner, The Man With The Iron Fist, and Kung-Fu
Panda series. In The Charlie’s
Angel series I thought you did a great job playing Alex Munday because I
liked on how you made Alex an interesting character by making her fun with
humor and being unique for the Charlie Angel team by being resourceful at
solving different cases while taking the chance to try different methods to
solve different challenges. Also in The
Charlie’s Angels series I thought you did a great job with Ms. Cameron Diaz
and Ms. Drew Barrymore on making a great team and making Charlie’s Angels into
a fun, funny, and action movie. Code Name Cleaner was a great comedy
movie because I thought you did a great job working with Cedric The Entertainer
(one of my favorite comedians) on making the movie fun, funny, and a clever
story about a janitor named Jake goes on an adventure to learn who he is or if he
is a secret agent. The Man with the Iron
Fist is one of my favorite American martial arts movies of 2012 because I
enjoyed the story about different lone warriors team up with each other to save
their village from an enemy during the 19th Century China and I
really liked how you made your character Madam Blossom an interest character
and helped shaped her personality with trait on being an excellent martial arts
skills with showing courage to the team. Also In The Man With The Iron Fist I thought you, Rick Yune, RZA, Russell
Crowe, David Bautista, Jamie Chung, and Cung Lee did a great job making the
movie a great martial arts movie along with making a great hero team to save
the village. I’m a huge fan for reading Sherlock Holmes short stories and I
consider Sherlock Holmes with Watson my favorite characters because I really
like on how they have a great working relationship and using deductive reason
on solving cases like noticing something unusual about a crime scene, taking
the time to review questions, working on theories to find what caused the
crime, using different question techniques on different witness or suspects
when questioning them, and trying different theories to solve a case or
understand what causes the crime. On September 27th 2012, I started
to watch Elementary series on CBS and saw the pilot episode. When watching the first episode I really liked
watching the pilot episode because I liked the origin of how Ms. Joan Watson
became companion later being partner of Sherlock Holmes and learning on how
Sherlock Holmes became a police consultant for the NYPD. Ms. Liu, I think you are doing a great job
playing Watson because I like on how you make Watson have great traits like the
character of Watson the Sherlock Holmes stories and how you make Watson a great
resource for Sherlock by being a companion of him when he has struggles,
helping him work on different theories including reviewing evidence, and having
a interesting working relationship. Also I want to thank you and Mr. Jonny
Miller for making Elementary into a great show and another thing is that I
really think that the show made a great choice on having a female as Watson and
you playing Watson.
Beside your acting career
I really like your work on helping show more awareness about Asian American
culture with being an activist to help Asian Americans feel confident to try
doing different things, be active to a community, and many others. Ms. Liu, I’m
an Asian American with Autism. Having a disability with being an Asian American
is difficult for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different
subjects, sometimes I have trouble communicating my thoughts, and get teased
about having it. Another thing that I face is that some Asians including Asian
Americans make fun of me because I have Autism and also they believe that I’m
not perfect for their culture or heritage. Your support for people with disabilities’
rights causes really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also your role
as an Asian American activist helps give me some confidence about being an
Asian American when I face challenges.
Ms. Liu, I am proud to call you one of my
favorite actresses in movies with T.V. Shows because you do such a great job
making the characters interesting with great traits with humor. In Elementary
I’m very proud of your hard work on making Watson a great partner with a
companion for Sherlock to help him deal with struggles and solve cases and
expanding on Watson’s resourceful skills.
Your work on being an activist for the Asian American including Asian
community with culture inspires me to work hard on my disability and have the
courage to be proud of my heritage. I
look forward to watch Elementary Season 6 and see you and Mr. Miller working
together on making the show fun, clever, and humorous. Thanks or taking the
time to read my letter, working hard on making movies with tv shows fun to
watch, and inspiring me. I wish you well for Season 5 Elementary and your
future acting career.
Sincerely,
Matt
Winick
