Honorable Michael J. Moore

Dear Honorable Moore,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history and social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for Civil Rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination,  protect the environment from pollution,  have criminal justice reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime, and many others.  Attorney Moore, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work when you served as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia to be very inspiring to me.

In 2010, I liked on how you accepted President Obama to nominate you to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia to help him improve our country. When you served as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia from 2010-2015, I truly appreciated on how you were a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, prosecuting people who commit hate-crime to help protect minorities including people who are different, and investigating public places that practiced different forms of discrimination or violated Civil Rights legislation.  Supporting drug treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse and expressing the need for funds to help improve DNA testing including forensic science to help reduce sending an innocent person to jail while reduce crime is common sense for criminal justice reform.  On food safety, I was amazed on how prosecuted corporate executives of food industries including some food service industries that violated food safety laws or when their products harmed consumers. Another thing that I liked about your work when you served as U.S. Attorney was how you went after public officials that were corrupt or accepted illegal bribes, prosecuted industries including companies that illegally polluted the environment including water resources or violated environmental protection laws, and pushed for educational awareness to help educate people about the need to reduce gun violence.

Honorable Moore, I have autism with a learning disability.  Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Also your role as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia gives me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice.  My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to make Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, have criminal justice reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are made a great difference when you served as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia. I’m very proud on how you supported Civil Rights, push for criminal justice reform, and even have the courage to went after the food industry when they violated health codes or have their products cause harm to consumers.  You have inspired me to work hard on my disability and to continue to learn history including social justice. I was wondering if you could please share with me some of your achievements when you served as U.S. Attorney.  Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great impact on society including the criminal justice system, and inspiring me.  Please continue to advocate for common sense ideas.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick

Department of Justice Mousepad as a gift from Honorable Moore included in his letter to me.
