My name is Matt Winick and I’m a fan of your acting. My favorite movie that you starred in was The Glass Menagerie. The Glass Menagerie was a great movie about Wingfield family where they deal with their daughter Laura where she has a disability. Ms. Miles, I thought you did an excellent job portraying as Laura Wingfield because I liked on how you made her have different traits like working hard on her disability which is physical disability, interacting with the unique glass figures to help her give comfort when other people would get judgmental about her having a disability, and many others. What I liked about the movie was how a person with disability should always find confidence in themselves including work hard to improve themselves despite what other people think of them or get judgmental about them being different. Besides your acting career, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes to reduce discrimination.
Ms. Miles, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts in different settings, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when other people including other adults get judgmental about me being different from them and have struggles to find different methods to improve myself. Also I had done teaching time to help me learn to speak while learn how to improve my behavior when I was young, spent time in special education to help me learn different subjects in education, and many others. Also when I get put down by other people including some friends, peers of them, and other adults I spend time with my historical figures called the Little Thinkers from the Unemployed Philosophers Guild website to help give me comfort including remind myself that it is okay to be unique like these historical figures. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes really inspires me to work hard on my disability and helps give me motivation to try to find different methods to improve myself when there are challenges. Your character Laura Wingfield in the Glass Menagerie on her disability and her wanting to create imagination when she struggles in life helps give me comfort to spend time with my collection, write letters to influential people like you where I explain how you inspire me, and try to find different coping methods for me when I feel down about being different along with a disability.
I strongly believe that you are a very talented actress. You did an excellent job making Laura Wingfield a great character with different unique traits in The Glass Menagerie. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, try to find different methods to improve myself, be a fan of your acting, and many others. I was wondering if you could please give me some advice about working hard on my disability. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to make a great difference.
Sincerely,
Matt Winick
