Dear Mr. Wiegand,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others. Mr. Wiegand, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as performer of Teddy Roosevelt to be very inspiring to me and how you inspire me to continue to learn history.

The Teddy Roosevelt Show is a great historical performance about Teddy Roosevelt’s life including his work in his presidency. Mr. Wiegand, you do such an excellent job portraying as Teddy Roosevelt because I like on how you make him a unique historical figure on having a sense of humor, telling about the highlights of his work in public service including his achievements when he was president, and many others. Also in your portrayal of Teddy Roosevelt I like on how you emphasize on how he was supportive of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights, protecting the environment,  addressing the need for better worker’s right along with benefits, and many others along with how it is important for these issues to continue on their history with the present. I enjoy watching your clips of the Teddy Roosevelt Show on Youtube and on Facebook. Besides your work as a historical reenactor, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes to reduce discrimination, support environmental protection causes to reduce pollution, and address the need for better workers’ rights including benefits.

Mr. Wiegand, I have autism with a learning disability. .  Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when other people including other adults get judgmental about me being different from them and have struggles to find different methods to improve myself.  Also I had done teaching time to help me learn to speak while learn how to improve my behavior, spent time in special education to help me learn different subjects in education, and many others.  I didn’t have many friends in life, I would use learning history including learning about historical figures who have worked hard to make some good contribution in society to help me navigate society along with motivating me to try to do good thing when life gets tough. Your support for civil rights including people with disabilities’ right causes really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Your role as a reenactor of Teddy Roosevelt and the Teddy Roosevelt Show helps give me more motivation to continue to learn history. In history I like to learn how famous people or different individuals (minorities, women, and people with disabilities) make an impact on society, the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, the importance of health care reform to help people who can’t afford health insurance or struggle with pre-existing conditions get the care they need, a need for criminal justice reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime, and many others.  My future goal is to work in history to help educate people about these fundamental ideas to make society better.

I strongly believe that you are a very talented reenactor. You do such an excellent job making Teddy Roosevelt a great historical figure. I truly appreciate on how you are an advocate for civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights including common sense ideas. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, be a fan of your work,  continue my interest in learning history. I was wondering if you could please wish me a Happy Birthday for December 3rd including some advice about working hard on my disability when there are challenges, and if you could also share with me on what it is like being Teddy Roosevelt. I hope that you can visit Ann Arbor Michigan to do The Teddy Roosevelt Show so I can meet you in person. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to make a great impact on society and history.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
