Dear Commissioner Garcia Richard,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others. Commissioner Garcia Richard, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work when you served as Member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 43rd district and as 28th New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands to be very inspiring to me.
When you served as New Mexico House of Representatives from the 43rd district from 2013-2019, t, I truly appreciated on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, advocating with members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to expand on laws to combat laws against hate crimes to help protect minorities including people who are different, and supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy. On the economy, I like on how you support expansion of jobs training programs to help train youth including workers to develop or improve on their job skills to help them prepare for the work force and heavily advocate for the need to raise the minimum wage to help assist minimum wage workers afford to live. Supporting funds for renewable energy resources to help reduce addiction to oil including gas, encouraging businesses including housing to use energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost while reduce pollution, and working to provide funds to clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use is common sense to protect the environment. On education, I like on how you support funds to improve special education to assist students with disabilities get accommodations they need to learn and working to expand on funds to better improve tutoring services to provide students with help on their assignments from tutors. On social justice, I like on how you are supporting the idea of having social workers on calls with law enforcement to help people who have a mental illness including a disability or to find ways to reduce police brutality and working to provide funds to improve city services including homeless shelters to help people who are low income or who are homeless get essential items. Also on criminal justice reform, I like on how you are currently advocating for legislation to hold law enforcement officers accountable when they do misconduct or illegal ways that harm citizens, support drug treatment programs to help drug users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse, and heavily support funds to help improve wrongful convictions unit to help investigate any misconduct in cases that resulted in innocent people going to jail for a crime that they didn’t commit. In your current role as 28th New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands, I like on how you are a continuous strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights and expanding on environmental protection along with renewable energy resources to reduce pollution. Another thing that I like about your role as New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands is how you are working to help protect Native American reservations from being polluted by toxic chemicals, expanding on educational awareness about the need to protect the environment including our public lands, push for a ban on gifts to staff members of the New Mexico State Land Office from lobbying groups including the polluter industry to reduce corruption.
Commissioner Garcia Richard,I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advanced subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts in different social settings, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also I enjoy reading some articles about your ideas to help protect the environment, improve civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights, and many others. Your role as former Member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 43rd district and as 28th New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands helps give me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others.
I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society.
